Two white handed gibbons rehabilitated and released in Mae Kampong Forest, Chiang Mai
The rescue and rehabilitation of two white-handed gibbons (Tong Dee & Tong Lord) who were subsequently released in the forest of Mae Kampong in Chiang Mai were the inspiration for Flight of the Gibbon.

We planted 2,000 trees in Mae Kampong forest, Chiang Mai
This was our first ever tree planting event. We planted 2,000 fruit trees to make sure our rehabilitated gibbons had enough food eat. This was the start of our Primate Habitat Restoration Project.

We planted 2,000 saplings in Mae Kampong forest, Chiang Mai
As habitat loss is one of the main reasons for gibbons being an endangered species, we strived to reverse this decline in forest habitat with yearly tree planting events.

Flight of the Gibbon worked together with Samdelheuv School, Department of Forestry, Cultural Landscape and Environment Management, APSARA Authority and the local media to plant 5,000 native saplings inside the Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap.

We Installed camera traps throughout the local forests for our biodiversity study

We planted 5,000 trees at Mae Kampong and 1,000 trees in Mae On, Chiang Mai
In 2016 we really started to ramp up our tree planting efforts. 5,000 to 10,000 new trees per year is nice, however 20,000 to 30,000 new trees per year is much nicer.

Working together with local national parks we are striving to restore forest land that was encroached upon and illegally cleared by local farmers.

In May 2017 we donated funds to FORRU (Forest Restoration Research Unit) to help further their efforts in Chiang Mai. We were also invited to attend a traditional ceremony at Mae Sa Sai Hmong Village.

We Sponsored a Tree Ordination Ceremony at Mae Kampong Village
This ceremony is where Thai Buddhist monks wrap orange clerical robes around trees to protect forests. “Ordaining” a tree is a ritual that has become the symbol of a small but influential monastic movement aimed at reversing environmental degradation and unsustainable economic development. Once a tree is ordained it is protected from felling by the Buddhist faith.

Abundant Life Home Visits Flight of the Gibbon in Chonburi
Abundant Life Home help’s mothers at risk keep and care for their children as well as support families struggling with poverty, to keep their children instead of sending them to an orphanage in our ‘Project Standing Strong.’ In May 2018 Flight of the Gibbon welcomed Abundant Life Home for a memorable day in the treetops, learning about overcoming their fears and the importance of teamwork.

Underprivileged Children from Suksasongkroh School in Chiang Mai
More than 60 children got to experience our award winning Zipline canopy tour, zipping from tree to tree accompanied by our fantastic team of Sky Rangers. They were also educated on the rainforest as well as local flora and forna of Northern Thailand. Needless to say the kids had an amazing day.

Flight of the Gibbon together with Chae Son National Park planted 17,600 trees on44 rai of illegally logged land within the park boundary. The project was supported by a number of schools, villagers, volunteers and local organizations.

Mangrove Restoration Project with Royal Thai Navy Seal

We planted 2,000 trees in Mae Kampong Village, Chiang Mai
Flight of the Gibbons tree planting event, a total of 2,250 saplings were planted in Mae Kampong by the staff, members of the public and national park officers in August 24, 2018. This is one of our restoration project which would help to restore the local forests to former glory.

Big cleaning day 2018 at Mae Kampong village
Flight of the Gibbon together with villagers of Mae Kampong organized a 'Big Cleaning Day' on the 10th of September, 2018. A wonderful day was had by all doing tasks such as grass cutting, garbage collection and road sweeping to ensure the beauty of the village is maintained and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

Senior Staff at Flight of the Gibbon recently completed refresher courses for Wilderness First Aid (WFA). WFA is the best and most comprehensive course of its kind to offer relevant and realistic first-aid training for outdoor activities and tour operators.

Our First Mangrove Reforestation Event
Flight of the Gibbon had been preparing for their mangrove planting project together with the Royal Thai Navy Seals for many months and the time had finally come to put the plan into action and plant hundreds of saplings off the coast of Sattahip in the Gulf of Thailand.

Tree Planting Maintenance Event
On November 30th, 2018, Flight of the Gibbon visited one of our tree planting sites from early this year for its regular maintenance. Maintenance includes weeding/fertilising and generally continues for 3 years to ensure that these saplings have the best possible chance of making it to adulthood.

Mangrove Planting Update
In Chonburi we have conducted regular maintenance on our first Mangrove planting in 2018 which is having great success. We also took the time to identify a new location in Samae San Island to conduct our next planting in 2019 together with the Royal Thai Navy Seals.

Firebreaks 2019 around Chiang Mai
Flight of the Gibbon is committed to protecting the local forests and on the 4th of March 2019 teamed up with various locals to implement firebreaks in vulnerable forested areas. We fund efforts every year to help protect the local ecosystem.

Thousands of saplings were planted as part of our ongoing conservation program in efforts to help restore natural habitats for local wildlife.

On the 30th of August 2019 Flight of the Gibbon together with Tham Pha Thai National Park planted 3,000 native saplings in the Pong Tao district of Lampang Province.

Mangrove Planting in Chonburi, Thailand
On the 29th of September 2019 Flight of the Gibbon successfully continued our Mangrove Planting Project by planting over 500 mangrove saplings on Samae Sarn Island in Chonburi. This is the second year that we will be taking part in this project and we would like to thank all involved parties including Royal Thai Navy Seals, Thai Island, Sea Natural History Museum team, Off-road team, Thai Eco Solutions, Flight of the Gibbon staff, volunteers and partners.
